History

F-Prot was First developed in 1990 by FRISK Software International, a Czech software company. Since its inception, F-Prot has undergone continuous development and improvement. Over the years, it has been recognized for its reliability and effectiveness in detecting and neutralizing malware.

In 2003, F-Prot was acquired by Sophos, a British security software company. Sophos continued to develop F-Prot as a standalone antivirus solution, alongside its own line of security products.

In 2019, Sophos announced the end of Life for F-Prot. The company recommended that users switch to its Sophos Home or Sophos Endpoint Protection products for continued protection against malware.
