Lipikar Custom Map File – file format by Lipikar

LCM (Lipikar Custom Map File) is a proprietary file extension developed by Lipikar. It is a file format used to store custom maps created within Lipikar’s mapping software. The file format contains map data such as terrain, roads, buildings, and other geographical features.

Definition and Purpose of LCM Files:

The LCM file extension, short for Lipikar Custom Map File, is a proprietary file format associated with the Lipikar software suite. Lipikar is a mapping tool designed for the creation, editing, and management of custom maps and geospatial data. LCM files primarily function as storage containers for customized map configurations within Lipikar.

Structure and Functionality:

LCM files store a collection of user-defined map settings and parameters, including map layers, legends, symbols, and other configuration details. This allows users to save and reuse custom map templates, ensuring consistency and efficiency in their mapping projects. When a user loads an LCM file into Lipikar, the software retrieves and applies the stored settings to the active map, enabling quick and convenient map customization. LCM files are typically used in conjunction with other Lipikar file formats, such as .LMP (Lipikar Map Project) files and .LDB (Lipikar Database) files, for comprehensive map creation and data management.

Opening LCM Files Using Lipikar Software

LCM files are custom map files created using Lipikar, a mapping software developed by Lipikar. To open an LCM file, you will need to have Lipikar installed on your computer. Once you have Lipikar installed, follow these steps:

  1. Launch Lipikar.
  2. Go to the “File” menu and select “Open.”
  3. In the “Open” dialog box, navigate to the location of the LCM file you want to open.
  4. Select the LCM file and click “Open.”

Once the LCM file is open, you will be able to view the map it contains. You can also edit the map by making changes to the layers, objects, and properties. When you are finished editing the map, you can save it as an LCM file.

Opening LCM Files Using a Text Editor

LCM files are text files, so they can also be opened using a text editor. However, opening an LCM file using a text editor will not allow you to view the map it contains. You will only be able to see the text code that makes up the map.

Note: LCM files are not the same as LCMB files. LCMB files are binary files that contain compiled Lipikar maps. You cannot open LCMB files using the methods described in this article.

Lipikar Custom Map File (LCM)

A Lipikar Custom Map File (LCM) is a specialized file format used by the Lipikar software suite to store and manage custom maps. Lipikar is a powerful mapping and GIS software used by professionals in various industries, including land use planning, environmental management, and engineering. LCM files enable users to define and customize their own maps, tailoring them to specific project requirements and preferences.

LCM files contain detailed information about a map, including its geographic boundary, layers, and symbology. Users can create new LCM files from scratch or modify existing ones to incorporate their own data and customization. Within an LCM file, users can specify the coordinate system, add layers of data, set layer properties such as visibility, style, and labels, and define custom symbols and legends. The flexibility of LCM files allows users to create highly tailored maps that meet their specific needs and communicate complex spatial information effectively.
