What does Zip Disk mean?

A Zip disk is a removable storage medium developed by Iomega in the mid-1990s. It consists of a 3.5-inch floppy disk enclosed in a hard plastic casing, with a capacity of 100 MB or 250 MB. Zip disks use a proprietary compression algorithm to achieve their high storage capacity, and they can be read and written to using a Zip Drive.

Zip disks were initially marketed as a replacement for floppy disks, but they quickly gained popularity for a variety of applications, including:
