What does Open Networking Foundation mean?

The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the adoption of open source Software in networking. ONF was founded in 2011 by a group of leading network equipment providers, including Cisco, HP, IBM, and Microsoft.

ONF’s mission is to accelerate the development and adoption of open networking technologies by fostering collaboration between industry leaders, open source communities, and end users.
